What’s your typical Commuting Experience?
It's as quick as the Tube and more reliable, so it's a no brainer really. Most of us are experienced and keen cyclists so riding throughout the winter is just a mere challenge that we've adapted to, while the Summer is a pleasant treat. But riding doesn’t end at just commuting — during the summer, we have weekly lunch time road rides when we embark on a leisurely ride and night-time off-road rides near Holmbury and Peaslake happen on a weekly basis.
Cycling in London is incredibly dangerous though. We all get used to it and we try to rationalise it, but the state of cycling in London is absolutely disgraceful and I think that should be faced up to. People need to slow down and maybe relax a bit more. Slow and steady wins the race, plus it's less likely to get someone killed.
Despite this, it's still much nicer to cycle in — being rammed into a heaving sweatbox full of people hacking germs over each other is hardly pleasant. It's not unusual to have a permanent cold when you use the Tube with any regularity!
